This is a perfect authentic soul food restaurant. I visited from Washington DC and was thrilled to get sweet tea and home cooked meat & 3. Portions are huge! Pork Chops were so tender they were falling off the bone. Do not leave without trying the red beans and rice!!!!! Nothing fancy - just great. Atmosphere is 5 stars because it is exactly what it should be for soul food

Delicious food. It was about a 20 minute wait for the food. Very fresh. They have several tables if you want to eat there. Definitely would highly recommend.

First time visiting so I ordered a few things to try. The environment was welcoming and very comfortable, almost like it was already familiar and the staff was sweet and delightful. The meatloaf sandwich was simplistic yet just right. It was very delicious and well made. My first time having pig tail and I must say it reminded me of ham hock but different. Very tender and flavorful. It was a perfect match with the red beans and rice. It seemed slightly sweet but it had an amazing texture and overall flavor. The cornbread was just right with the meal as well. The fried fish was seasoned and fried to perfection, I love me some fried catfish. The spaghetti and cheese was amazing, a nice take on Mac and cheese. I loved the cabbage and would have like a little more of it. The pork chop was perfectly tender and delicious and matched well with the rice and gravy. I loved every drop of this meal and plan to try other menu items. I did have a sweet potato pie and loved every bit of it as well.

LET ME TELL YOU!!!!! Everything on the menus is good. Now the atmosphere is horrible and you will be tempted to turn around and leave on your first visit. Be brave and order your food. I promise you, you will not be disappointed and the next time you will make a friend or two . The guy that takes your order will get that order right and will let you know immediately if they are out of something. Descent service, reasonable prices, and great food! I would eat here everyday if my pockets and body could afford it .

Be aware that the food is cooked to order! & it definitely tastes just as is, FRESHLY COOKED TO ORDER. Decided to stop by for a Saturday lunch bite, and was overwhelmed. The cashier did a good job assisting, and also was patient. It was his Birthday as well, Happy Birthday again if you see this! Smothered Pork Chop, Smothered Chicken, Spaghetti & Cheese, Candied Yams were amazing. Will be back soon, thank you!

Dorthy's SoulFood Kitchen This was my first visit, but it definitely won’t be my last! The food was absolutely delicious—hot, fresh, and made to order. Yes, there’s about a 20-minute wait, but it’s well worth every minute. You can truly taste the love and care in every bite. Highly recommended!!!!

It's not the first soul food kitchen I've been to, but it is the best I've been to so far. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The food came out quick, hot, & delicious. I had the fried pork chop, cabbage, yams, and red beans & rice. The meal came with sweet tea and a side of cornbread for just under 20 bucks. Pork Chop was thick cut and fried perfectly. All the sides were straight FIYA. Sweet tea had the strong flavor of the betes, so of course, it was sweet and good to the last drop. Not located in the best part of town, but it is convenient to get to, and they've been open 25 years, so their obviously doing it up right. Small seating area, so it's probably best to order and pick up. Give it a shot, and you won't be disappointed.
